Personal Auto Insurance in California

At Caspian Coverage Insurance Services, we help California drivers compare personal auto insurance options based on their vehicles, driving histories, coverage needs, and budgets. Whether you need liability only insurance or broader protection that includes collision, comprehensive, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, medical payments, roadside assistance, or rental reimbursement, our licensed agents will explain your options clearly.

We assist everyday drivers, families, new drivers, and people who need an SR-22. We can also explore coverage options for drivers with tickets, accidents, prior insurance lapses, DUIs, or other challenging driving records. Coverage availability and pricing depend on the driver, vehicle, location, selected limits, and insurance carrier.

If you drive for Uber, Lyft, or another rideshare company, let us know before purchasing your policy. Rideshare use is not automatically covered by every personal auto policy, but we can check whether an appropriate endorsement or policy option is available.

• Liability-only and full-coverage insurance options

• SR-22 assistance and options for drivers with tickets, accidents, lapses, or DUIs

• Personalized quotes for families, new drivers, high risk drivers, and eligible rideshare drivers

California Minimum Auto Insurance Requirements

California requires financial responsibility for vehicles operated or parked on public roads. Most drivers satisfy this requirement by purchasing an automobile liability insurance policy and keeping proof of insurance available in their vehicle.

California’s minimum liability insurance limits are commonly written as 30/60/15:

• $30,000 for injury or death to one person

• $60,000 total for injury or death to more than one person in a single accident

• $15,000 for damage to another person’s property

The first number is the maximum amount available for one injured person. The second is the total available when multiple people are injured in the same accident. The third applies to covered property damage, such as damage to another vehicle, fence, building, or other property.

These limits represent the minimum required by California law, but they may not be enough to cover the complete cost of a serious accident. When damages exceed the policy limits, the responsible driver could be personally responsible for the remaining amount. Higher liability limits may provide greater financial protection, depending on the driver’s needs and available carrier options.

Liability insurance covers eligible injuries and property damage suffered by other people when you are legally responsible for an accident. It does not pay to repair or replace your own vehicle. Collision and comprehensive coverage are separate options and do not replace California’s financial responsibility requirement.

Drivers must be able to provide proof of insurance when requested by law enforcement, when renewing vehicle registration, and following a traffic collision. A lapse in coverage may also result in vehicle-registration problems. Caspian Coverage Insurance Services can explain available liability limits and help California drivers select coverage based on their circumstances.

Rideshare Insurance for Uber, Lyft and Other App Based Drivers

If you use your personal vehicle to drive for Uber, Lyft or another rideshare platform, your regular personal auto insurance may not provide coverage while the rideshare app is turned on. Rideshare insurance is typically added through an endorsement or a policy that specifically permits rideshare driving. It helps address potential gaps between your personal auto policy and the insurance provided by the rideshare company.

Anyone who uses a personal vehicle to transport passengers for payment even occasionally or part-time should tell their insurance company and confirm that rideshare use is permitted. In California, insurance coverage can change depending on whether you are waiting for a ride request, traveling to pick up a passenger or transporting a passenger. The coverage provided through a rideshare platform may also have different limits, deductibles and physical-damage protection than your personal policy.

If you do not carry the correct coverage, your personal insurance company may deny a claim related to rideshare activity. You could be responsible for vehicle repairs, towing, rental expenses, injuries or property damage that are not covered by the rideshare company’s policy. If your current insurance company prohibits rideshare driving, you should not rely on that policy while working. Instead, obtain coverage from an insurance company that accepts rideshare use before turning on the app.

Caspian Coverage Insurance Services can help you review available rideshare insurance options and find coverage appropriate for your driving situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Car insurance prices vary by driver, vehicle, coverage, and insurance company. Important California rating factors include your driving record, annual mileage, and years of driving experience. Your vehicle, garaging location, selected limits, and deductibles can also affect the price. A personalized quote is the best way to find out what coverage will cost for your situation.

Contact Caspian Coverage Insurance Services at (818) 579-4711 or submit our online quote form. Our North Hollywood agency helps drivers compare available options from multiple insurance carriers. We explain coverage limits, deductibles, and payment options so you can choose a policy that fits your needs and budget. We serve drivers throughout California.

Compare quotes using the same coverage limits and deductibles, and ask about discounts you qualify for. Depending on the insurer, options may include good driver, multiple vehicle, or combined policy discounts. A higher comprehensive or collision deductible may lower your premium, but it increases what you pay toward a covered claim. We help you compare the savings and coverage tradeoffs.

Liability only car insurance pays for covered injuries and property damage you cause to other people, up to your policy limits. It does not cover damage to your own vehicle. Full coverage auto insurance usually means a policy that includes liability, comprehensive, and collision coverage. Collision helps pay for damage to your car from a crash, while comprehensive covers events such as theft, vandalism, and fire. Full coverage does not cover every situation. Caspian Coverage helps drivers in North Hollywood and throughout California compare coverage limits, deductibles, and optional benefits before choosing a policy.

For most standard personal auto policies, California’s minimum liability limits are $30,000 for bodily injury or death per person, $60,000 per accident, and $15,000 for property damage. These limits are commonly written as 30/60/15. Liability coverage pays for covered injuries and damage you cause to others; it does not repair your own car. Higher limits are available, and special programs may have different requirements.

It depends on the insurance company and policy. Some insurers offer rideshare coverage through an endorsement added to a personal auto policy. Others offer policies specifically designed to accommodate rideshare driving, while some do not accept Uber or Lyft use at all.

Tell your agent or insurer that you drive for a rideshare platform before purchasing coverage. Simply having personal auto insurance does not mean you are covered while working. Your protection can change depending on whether you are waiting for a ride request, picking up a passenger, or transporting a passenger. The rideshare company’s insurance may also have different limits, deductibles, and coverage restrictions.

Caspian Coverage Insurance Services helps drivers in North Hollywood and throughout California review available rideshare insurance options and check how their personal policy works with coverage provided by Uber or Lyft.

Insurance options may be available even if you have tickets, accidents, a DUI, or a gap in your insurance history. Caspian Coverage helps drivers explore available carriers based on their circumstances. Eligibility and pricing depend on the details of your driving record, vehicle, and application. Tell us about these issues when requesting a quote so we can check suitable options

Yes. Caspian Coverage Insurance Services helps drivers in North Hollywood and throughout California find auto insurance with an SR-22 filing. An SR-22 is a certificate your insurance company files with the California DMV to confirm you carry the required liability coverage. It is not a separate insurance policy. If the DMV requires an SR-22 after a DUI, driving without insurance, or certain license suspensions, let us know when requesting your quote. We can compare available carriers, explain your coverage options, and help arrange the required filing.
